Physical exhibitions are curator-selected — you cannot apply directly or self-nominate. The Annapurna Art curatorial team browses artwork on the platform and reaches out to artists whose work they want to include. Physical exhibitions are currently held at the Annapurna Art gallery in Nepal, so this opportunity is available to artists whose work is based in Nepal.
How physical exhibitions work
Curators select artworks from the platform
The Annapurna Art curation team regularly reviews artwork listed on the platform. When they identify pieces that are a strong fit for an upcoming exhibition, they shortlist those works for inclusion.
You are contacted for permission
If your artwork is shortlisted, Annapurna Art contacts you directly to ask for your permission to include it in the exhibition. You are under no obligation to agree — participation is always your choice.
The gallery arranges delivery
Once you give permission, the gallery coordinates the collection and delivery of your artwork. You do not need to arrange transport yourself — Annapurna Art handles the logistics of getting your piece to the gallery space.
Your artwork is displayed at the gallery
Your artwork is exhibited in the gallery for a specified period. During this time, it is physically present in the space and available for in-person viewing and purchase by local buyers and collectors.
During the physical exhibition, artworks are hidden from direct public view. Visitors at the gallery scan a QR code to reveal each artwork on their device — creating an exclusive, digitally-enhanced reveal experience that adds intrigue and engagement to the physical show.
Benefits of participating in a physical exhibition
Immersive In-Person Exposure
Being present in a physical gallery creates an impact that online listings cannot replicate. Visitors engage with your work emotionally and experientially in a way that deepens appreciation and drives purchase decisions.
Direct Collector Connections
Physical exhibitions attract serious collectors and buyers. Meeting your work in person — even through the QR reveal — creates personal connections that can lead to sales, commissions, and long-term collector relationships.
Brand Awareness
Having your work shown in a gallery raises your profile as an artist. Exhibition credits build your reputation and can open doors to further opportunities both on and off the platform.
How to maximise your chances of being selected
While you cannot apply directly, there are steps you can take to make your work more visible and appealing to the curatorial team:- Keep your listings high quality. Strong photography and complete, accurate descriptions help curators understand and appreciate your work.
- Upload consistently. The more artwork you have on the platform, the more opportunities there are for curators to discover pieces they love.
- Write compelling descriptions. Curators respond to work that has a clear artistic voice — use your description to communicate the story, intention, or technique behind each piece.
